On Thursday, November 11, the speaker at the South Orange Rotary meeting at Toro Loco in South Orange was Evelyn Hoppler of the Salvation Army.  She offered Rotary the opportunity to help our neighbors.  South Orange Rotary will collect food on "Giving Days" set for December 16 and 17 at the South Orange Public Library.

Our Club will collect food items, toys, clothes and gift cards. Blankets are also needed.   Your donations will benefit the folks that the Salvation Army serves. They include the homeless, the poor, children, the working poor and senior citizens. They have requested that the value of all gift cards be no more than $25 dollars.

Not sure what to contribute. Evelyn Hoppler recommends $25 grocery store gift cards.  They are easier to carry than canned soup or canned vegetables and one size fits all.

Such projects are emphasized in the Rotary Four-Way Test.  The second tenet asks:Will it build goodwill and better friendship? If you would like to help, please contact Stacey Borden, Club President, at 973-454-6272 or by email at rotaryclubsoNJ@gmail.com. The collections will culminate on December 16 and 17 which have been designated  "Giving Days" by the South Orange Rotary Club.
