We are so lucky to have the Melissa Kopecky of the South Orange Public Library as a member of our club. When it’s her turn to provide speakers we get such a treat. This last week Melissa was accompanied by Ellen Columbus, from the south Orange Public Library and we not only learned about the many things that our library card can get us (including downloads for our E-Readers), but we also discussed the historical houses in South Orange.
The big deal is that the South Orange Public Library (SOPL) subscribes to a variety of databases. All you have to do is log-on to www.sopl.org, click on Reference on the left, and then click on a link for any of the variety of databases available, i.e. AccessScience (providing fully searchable access to all the articles, fully illustrated, from the latest edition of the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology); EbscoHost Magazines  (full-text magazine and journal articles from over 4,600 general interest, business and health periodicals, newspapers, children’s magazines, reference books and primary source documents); Reference USA Directory (information on millions of U.S. and Canadian businesses and households and 600,000 U.S. doctors and dentists) and WilsonWeb Biographies (over 111,000 biographies and obituaries and over 32,000 photos).
